Event Recap
The 2026 Moses Lake Paramotor Classic is officially in the books. Pilots came from all over the country - not just Washington and Oregon, but from states clear across the map - to fly the dunes together, camp under the Eastern Washington sky, and spend a few days doing what they love.
This year's turnout was something special. New pilots kiting in the dunes for the first time, seasoned fliers putting in hours over open desert, and a community that showed up bigger and further-flung than ever before. No agenda, no entry fee, no pressure - just pilots and families doing what they love, together.
The Moses Lake Sand Dunes ORV area once again proved to be the perfect setting. Dirt bikes, quads, side-by-sides, RC planes, e-bikes, one-wheels - the whole family had room to play. Soft sand, wide open space, and paramotors in the air from sunrise to sunset.
Thank you to everyone who made the trip, flew the dunes, and made this year's Classic one to remember. Scroll down for photos and video from the weekend - and keep an eye on this page for next year's dates.

Get yours for $65 and represent the PNW paramotor community wherever you fly next.
Buy the Jersey - $65This was not just a paramotor event. It was a full weekend in the desert with your people.
All ages welcome. No experience necessary to attend. Kids love the dunes and there is plenty of space to explore, play, and watch from the ground.
This event is great for pilots at every level. New fliers can practice kiting in the dunes in a low-pressure environment. Experienced pilots have wide open desert airspace to explore.
The sand dunes are perfect for kiting practice. Soft landings, natural terrain variation, and consistent wind make this one of the best kiting playgrounds in Eastern Washington.
Dirt bikes, quads, side-by-sides, RC planes, e-bikes, one-wheels - this is an ORV area. Load up the trailer and make it a full desert weekend for the whole crew.
Camp together with pilots and families from across Washington and Oregon. No schedule, no pressure. Cook together, watch launches, swap stories around the fire.
No entry fee, no wristband, no registration. Show up, camp, fly, ride. This is a community gathering put on by pilots for pilots.
About three hours east of Seattle on I-90. Flat desert, open airspace, and terrain unlike anything on the west side of the Cascades. The dunes are the launch, the landing zone, and the campground all in one.
Camping Area & Launch Zone
47.068047, -119.283152 — camping and launch coordinates used for the 2026 Classic.
Wide open flat desert with natural dune launches. No trees to dodge, no cliffs to worry about. September thermals are active but manageable for experienced pilots, and morning windows are calm and long. The terrain makes off-field landings soft and safe.
Eastern Washington in September runs warm and dry. Expect temperatures in the high 70s to mid 80s during the day, dropping to the 50s overnight. Winds are typically light in the morning and build through midday. Plan your flying for the first few hours after sunrise.
Take I-90 east to Moses Lake, exit toward the dunes. About 2 hours 45 minutes from Seattle, 3.5 hours from Portland. Fuel up in Moses Lake before heading to the site - the nearest gas is a 20-minute drive from the ORV area. High-clearance is helpful but not required for most of the access roads.
Your paramotor, wing, camping gear, and enough food and water for the trip. There are no services on site. Bring more water than you think you need - desert heat is real. A shade structure for the daytime heat is worth having. Camp chairs and a fire ring make the evenings better.

Yes. This is a recurring community gathering, and we plan to be back at the dunes again next year. Dates will be posted on this page and announced on Instagram as soon as they are locked in.
Did I need to register or pay anything to attend?
No. It has always been show up, camp, fly. There was no registration, no entry fee, and no wristband. It is a community gathering, not a ticketed event - and that will not change next year either.
Do I need to be a certified pilot to attend?
No. Anyone is welcome to come and enjoy the event - flying, kiting, riding, or just watching. You do need a PPG2 or equivalent certification if you intend to fly your own paramotor. Non-pilots, families, and spectators are always welcome.
